The most sensible option is often this: build a draft with AI, then bring it up to standard where it will live for years.

What Lovable, v0 and Bolt are
These are tools from the “vibe coding” trend – you build by describing what you want, and AI generates the code. They differ in purpose:
- Lovable – the most complete builder for entrepreneurs. From a single prompt it generates a working application with a database and authentication, and the code (React) can be exported. Good when you move quickly from idea to a working prototype.
- v0 (by Vercel) – specialises in polished UI in React and Next.js. Great for modern interfaces and individual pages, less for a complete application.
- Bolt – turns a prompt into a working app launched right in the browser, with automatic hosting. Ideal for quick validation of an idea before you invest more time.
The common thread: the path from a blank page to something working is genuinely short.
What they are great for
There is no point talking these tools down – in their role they are very good:
- prototype – you show an idea quickly instead of describing it,
- MVP and apps – especially product ones, with a database and login,
- offer validation – you check whether something catches on before spending budget,
- internal tools – simple panels and apps for your own use.
If that is what you need, jumping straight to a full implementation would be overkill.
Where they stumble on a business website
A business website does not only have to look good and work in preview. It has to load fast, be visible in Google, collect enquiries, measure conversions and be able to grow. This is where the limits begin:
- SEO – an AI-generated site is rarely optimised out of the box for real client queries,
- performance and mobile – a flashy design can be heavy, and the client most often arrives on a phone,
- hosting and cost over time – your own hosting and maintenance is a different model from a platform subscription,
- maintenance – updates, backups and security do not happen by themselves,
- integrations – newsletter, payments, CRM, shop, bookings – these need a mature ecosystem,
- ownership and portability – it is worth knowing where your code lives and whether you can take it with you.
This does not mean an AI project is useless. It means it is a good start that needs finishing.
AI builder or WordPress – when to use which
A simple rule, without ideology:
- prototype, app, MVP, quick test – an AI builder (Lovable, v0, Bolt) will be faster and more convenient,
- business site, blog, shop, long-term growth and traffic from Google – WordPress or another mature solution with an SEO and maintenance backbone is usually better.
